We were recently in Sedona AZ at Lisa Dahl’s restaurant, Mariposa. We had the most amazing beef empanadas with chimichurri sauce. I used this recipe and came pretty close.
1 lb. ground beef browned
1 sweet onion chopped finely sauted
1tsp cumin
1tsp cinammon
1/4 tsp cayenne
mix all together
dough: 2 3/4 c flour, 3/4 c lard melted in 1 c. Water
mix dough and chill 2hrs divide into twelve balls, flatten thin fill with meat finish edges by dog earring edges (signature style for Argentinian empanadas)
serve with chimichurri sauce
1 c parsley
1 c cilantro
1/8 c oregano
1 c olive oil
1/2 onion
4 cloves garlic
cayenne to taste
salt
Sounds easy and they look great!
